Course Description
Course Overview:
The Certificate in Awareness about Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course from Skill Sathi is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and intervene in cardiopulmonary emergencies. The course covers advanced cardiac life support techniques, including rhythm interpretation, airway management, and medication administration. ACLS certification is often required for healthcare providers working in emergency departments, intensive care units, and other critical care settings.
The students who complete this course can look forward to finding job opportunities in quality departments of leading hospitals and other healthcare organizations.
Learning Objective:
- Understanding the importance of early recognition and intervention in cardiopulmonary emergencies.
- Recognizing and interpreting basic and advanced cardiac rhythms.
- Demonstrating proficiency in providing high-quality CPR for adults and children.
- Understanding the principles of airway management, including intubation and ventilation.
- Demonstrating proficiency in using defibrillation and other advanced cardiac life support medications.
- Understanding the importance of effective communication and teamwork in resuscitation efforts.
- Applying ACLS algorithms to manage cardiac arrest, acute coronary syndromes, and other cardiopulmonary emergencies.
- Understanding the post-cardiac arrest care and appropriate documentation of resuscitation events.
- Understanding the ethical and legal considerations related to resuscitation and end-of-life care.
Eligibility Criteria

Course Content
Introduction to ACLS: Overview of the ACLS guidelines, algorithms, and protocols.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Review: Review of BLS skills, including chest compressions, airway management, and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Cardiac Arrest Algorithms: Detailed instruction on the ACLS algorithms for managing cardiac arrest, including the cardiac arrest algorithm, the bradycardia algorithm, and the tachycardia algorithm.
Rhythm Recognition: Instruction on identifying basic and advanced cardiac rhythms, including sinus rhythms, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole.
Airway Management: Techniques for maintaining and managing the airway, including bag-mask ventilation and endotracheal intubation.
Electrical Therapy: Instruction on the use of defibrillation and cardioversion for restoring normal cardiac rhythm.
Medication Administration: Overview of ACLS medications, including indications, dosages, and administration methods.
Team Dynamics: Importance of effective communication, leadership, and teamwork during resuscitation efforts.
Post-Cardiac Arrest Care: Overview of the post-resuscitation care, including the importance of hemodynamic optimization and neurologic assessment.
Special Circumstances: Management of special situations during resuscitation, such as hypothermia, drug overdose, and trauma.
Ethical and Legal Considerations: Discussion of ethical and legal issues related to resuscitation decisions and end-of-life care.
Simulation and Practice: Hands-on practice with simulation scenarios to apply ACLS algorithms and skills in a simulated clinical setting.
The course may also include a written exam and skills evaluation to assess competency in ACLS knowledge and skills.
