Course Overview:

Nursing excellence is something every Nursing professional should strive for. It is not just how good you are as a nurse, but as a person as well. An excellent nurse is one that always goes one step farther in every way possible. They are the nurse that shows up early for rounds, and the one who leaves a little later to ascertain continuity of care. They are the nurse that never lets their outside life affect the lives of their patients or coworkers. To attain nursing excellence, one must be smart, respectful, kind, tough when necessary, and always willing to help.

The Nursing professionals are the cornerstone of any quality related programme in a health care organization. Keeping this in mind, Nursing excellence standards have been framed by NABH with a view to lay down the guidelines for evaluating the nursing services being provided by a Health Care Organization.

To sensitise the mid level and senior staff on latest trends in nursing services administration and developments in respect of Quality management of hospitals and health  services, and to enable  them to take up higher responsibilities in management  of quality nursing care services.

Learning Objective

1. To ensure that Nurses receive consistent information regarding policies, procedures, standards and documentation to support practice and familiarize them with the vision, mission, values, goals and organizational structure of the Healthcare facility
2. To enable Nurses to demonstrate critical thinking, clinical decision making and psychomotor skills necessary for safe and competent practice
3. To create an awareness about constant self learning & encourage them to actively seek learning opportunities to continue competent practice.
4. To enable nurses to illustrate effective communication with clients, colleagues and other professionals through proficient verbal, non verbal, writing skills and emerging technology

Eligibility Criteria

Nursing professionals engaged in planning and management of nursing care and nursing services at unit or sub unit level in any health care institution, belonging to Government, Public or Private Sectors.  Teaching staff in nursing schools/colleges are also welcome.

• Learn Fundamentals Nursing Services Administration of Quality Management System (QMS).
• Examine statutory and ethical issues applicable to patient care services and Quality management of nursing care.
• Examine  dimensions of Quality and the levels of performance applicable to Nursing Services Administration
• Examine quality needs in nursing services administration at various levels. Develop Quality criteria for nursing service and care, for patient safety, medication errors, sentinel events and importance of  Nursing records and Nursing Audit
• Examine functional and quality needs in clinical and supportive services affecting nursing care.
• Learn Leadership of team building and communication needs and analyze the quality requirements in management of human and material resources including equipment handling and care.
• Examine trends in customer relationship management (CRM).
• Study essentials in disaster management, waste management, hospital infection control etc.
• Learn to prepare standard operating procedure (SOPs) and check list for quality audit, and nursing audit.
• Study latest trends in health care services administration affecting nursing care.
